Congratulations to the Cast of The Night Shift Before Christmas!

As always, the auditions blew us away. We are definitely blessed to have so many talented kids to work with. Seriously....this gets harder for us every year! I wish so much that we could let everyone have the part they auditioned for, however, like most years there were two or three roles that got auditioned for more than others.

We considered both the audition as well as the child's grade when making our selections. We like to give priority to the kids who will be aging out of choir after this year as this is their last opportunity for a speaking part. Usually, we have the ability to split parts to create more opportunities, but the musical this year did not lend to that at all. We do have many non-speaking roles that we filled and we are writing an additional opening scene to accommodate a few more speaking parts.

With that being said....ANYONE with a speaking part needs to be at the church in the gym at 4:00 pm next Sunday, September 22. Drama rehearsals will be at 4 from now on. Most characters will need to be there every week. If not, I will contact you individually about that. Non-Speaking roles need only to attend the 5:00 choir rehearsal until further notice. Solo assignments will be made within the next two weeks and will be given during choir rehearsal. We did not have a ton of soloists this year, so I believe it is safe to say that anyone who auditioned should be receiving a part. Mrs. Sherry wants to be more familiar with the musical before assigning those.

Performance Weekend Details! IMPORTANT!!!

PLEASE READ FOR IMPORTANT DETAILS ABOUT THIS WEEKEND'S DRESS REHEARSAL AND PERFORMANCE!

Saturday, December 1 from 9am - 12noon - DRESS REHEARSAL

* Please have your children arrive 10 - 15 minutes early to get their costumes on.  We have them on a rack with names and if you can help your child get into their costume before you leave we would very much appreciate that!

*Please have your child wear shorts and a t-shirt for under their costume.  They will be barefoot on stage.

*Storytellers will wear their choir t-shirts (to be distributed on Saturday) and Jeans with black or brown shoes. Librarians - what you wore Sunday is perfect!

*If you signed up to provide snacks for our dress rehearsal please make sure you bring that with you at drop off.

Sunday, December 2 - Performance Day

*We will be performing our title song during the 9:30 service to promote the musical at the 11:00 service.

*Please arrive at 9:00 am sharp and bring your children to the AUDITORIUM.  Sherry and Sarah will be there to take the kids and line them up for our sound check.

*We will sing VERY first thing in the 9:30 service.

*When you arrive, please make sure your children are wearing their choir t-shirt (to be distributed Saturday) and jeans or dark pants.  They will need to bring shorts to change into for our performance (unless they are the "main 6")

*Sherry and Sarah will take the children from the 9:30 service to the basement and feed them breakfast.  We have a few parent volunteers who will help us get them in costume and ready for the performance.  You as parents just need to drop them off at 9 and we will handle everything from there and see you at the 11:00 performance :)  You do not need to check the kids in or get security tags as they will not be attending classes.

11:00 AM performance
*Kids will remain in their choir t-shirts, but need to have shorts to change into after the 9:30 service.  Kids will also be barefoot, so please bring a bag or backpack labeled with the child's name to keep their extra pants and shoes in.

*ANGELS - you will need to change your t-shirts as well! Please bring a PLAIN white shirt to wear under your costume.

*Librarians - you will need to bring your Librarian outfits to change into as well so you can wear your choir shirts for the 9:30 performance.

*Storytellers - you have it easy...you don't have to change :)

*We will take the children back stage after the performance to take off their costumes.  You can pick them up in room 101 (choir room to the right of the auditorium) following the service.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE - If we have forgotten something or if you have any other questions that were not answered....email us at ccmpraisecompany@gmail.com or text or call Sarah at 513-702-7340.  We are so excited for an awesome weekend! Thanks for all of your support!!!

A Rockin' Royal Christmas Cast Announced!!!

This is the moment you have all been waiting for! Thanks to all who worked so hard on your auditions and made a special trip to try out for us.  We had a record number of auditioners this year.  WOW...and did you all sure make our jobs difficult!!!  There is always one role that seems to be the most popular and this year was no different.  Our popular role this year was the Librarian.  Half of the people who auditioned read for the role of Librarian!  We had the most difficult time selecting this role because everyone did such a wonderful job.  So much so that we ultimately decided to split the part into two parts....so now there is the Librarian and the Librarian's Assistant.  We also split the Storyteller role into 3 parts.  If you have any questions at all feel free to email us at ccmpraisecompany@gmail.com.

We tried hard to put everyone in a role where we felt they fit and that they would be happy with.  Please know that if you did not get the role you read for it does NOT mean that you didn't do well.  We were more impressed than ever with the number of actors we have!  We are confident that everyone will do wonderfully in their roles.

Everyone on the list (minus the Soloists) needs to come to our Read Through rehearsal next Sunday, September 23 at 4:00.  The scripts will be available at that rehearsal.

Announcing our Cast and Solos for "Arrest These Merry Gentlemen"

What an AMAZING group of kids we have this year! Around 35 kids auditioned this year!!! So much talent from everyone, too! We were very impressed by how prepared some of you were...it was clear that you all worked very hard! We sure had an extremely difficult task ahead of us. These decisions were NOT easy to come by. Everyone did exceptionally well this year which made this even harder. I wish that we could give everyone the part that they want, but unfortunately we have to consider a lot of factors when choosing someone to play a role.

Some of the things that we considered when making these decisions are 1) the age of the child. While we have many talented kids of all ages, some of our kids are in choir for the last year and we want to make sure that the kids who are about to age out of choir get to participate as much as possible. 2) How the child fits into the role. 3) Whether or not the child has already had the opportunity to have a considerable role in the past. We like for everyone to gain as much experience as possible and try to be fair in giving everyone a shot. If a child did not receive the part that they auditioned for, it in no way means that they were not good enough for the part...in fact, the opposite is true. In some cases we had 10+ people audition for the same role. In any case, all roles are equally as important in the telling of our story. We couldn't put on such a show without each and every child involved. We hope that no one is discouraged or upset if they were not selected for the part they auditioned for. We will all have a great time together! For most of you, there's always next year!!! :)

The following is the list of cast and solos. Anyone that was selected for a SPEAKING PART will need to report at 4:00 PM from now on each Sunday evening. Anyone with a NON SPEAKING PART or SOLO only will not need to arrive until 5:00 until further notice. If you have ANY questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to email us at ccmpraisecompany@gmail.com.

Auditions On Sunday!

Our auditions are this Sunday from 1 - 5. I am hoping to get emails out today to remind you all of your times. PLEASE be prepared for your audition by using the materials provided for you on the last blog post and on the CD. Please don't forget to bring your information sheet as well!

OUR AUDITIONS WILL TAKE PLACE IN THE BASEMENT BIG ROOM - if you are unfamiliar with the building, you can check out the building floor plan here.

REHEARSAL FOR THE REMAINDER OF SEPTEMBER WILL BE IN THE BASEMENT BIG ROOM (see above link for building map) Beginning in October we will have all rehearsals in the GYM. We will do our best to communicate any changes in a timely manner. The locations of each rehearsal are also shown on the Praise Company calendar below.

We are also in need of 2 or 3 parents that would be willing to take care of costuming for the kids. We have costumes available for everyone, but we'll need someone to come during rehearsal to "fit" the kids and tag the costumes accordingly. We are also in need of someone to possibly do some minor sewing projects for some specialty items we may need. If you are interested in helping with this project, please let me know via email and I will give you some more details.

Praise Company Sings Again!

Hello all! I hope you are in the midst of a wonderful, fun-filled summer! I know that it's hard to think about Christmas when it is August and 90 degrees outside, but we are gearing up for our newest Praise Company Production!

This year we will be presenting "Arrest These Merry Gentlemen" for our Family Christmas Church Service. We are VERY excited about this musical and we think it will be a LOT of fun!

Here is a little about the musical:
Sergeant Joe Sabbath is charged with keeping the peace in the sleepy little town of Bethlehem, and he likes things QUIET! When word reaches him that a band of rowdy shepherds is inbound from the fields outside of town, boisterously celebrating with wild tales of angels and such, he is determined to get to the bottom of this case! Of course, what he discovers is no simple "disturbing the peace" beef. It seems he’s stumbled upon the caper that changed the world!

If you would like to participate this year, you may sign up on line beginning Sunday, August 7 at www.ccmason.org, or on the touch screens at church.

Our first rehearsal will be Sunday, September 11 at 5:00 where we will have a PIZZA PARTY! Auditions will be the following Sunday. Please see the calendar below (alllll the way at the bottom of the blog) for ALL of the rehearsal dates and times as well as the performance time.

We're looking forward to seeing you all there!

Rehearsal Reminder!

Hey everyone! I hope you enjoyed your week off and got to attend Trunk N Treat :) Don't forget Sunday is our LAST 1 hour rehearsal. Make sure if you have a speaking part that you check the schedule to see if you have to be there at 4. Starting November 14 we will need EVERYONE that means ALL cast and choir to report from 4 to 6. That gives us a month to put all of the pieces together and prepare for our BIG performance.

If you didn't receive the email, I wanted to make sure that everyone knows that our performance will now be on Sunday MORNING December 19 at 11 AM. Our dress rehearsal will still be Saturday evening, the 18th and we are adding an additional rehearsal on Wednesday, December 15. Details for those rehearsals will be nailed down by Sunday.

Also, we will be back upstairs in our regular room this week. We are hoping to use the gym from now on since it gave us some extra space last week, but we'll keep you posted on that for sure! Please make sure that you are making every effort to have your kids at practice and on time! Even though Christmas seems far away still, when you practice only once a week, it goes SO fast! We really need everyone there to nail down our parts :) See you all Sunday!

Audition Information and Packets

Auditions for speaking parts and solos in our musical “Back to the Manger” will be held next Sunday, October 3 from 1:30 until 4:30. Please sign-up for an audition time on the posted sheet. You may audition for a speaking role, non-speaking role, solo, or all of the above.

You can click the links below to download and print the Audition Packets. There are separate packets for FEMALE or MALE roles. A listing of characters is also below. Not all characters are represented in the audition packet.

When you come to your audition, please be prepared to read for one role of your choice. We ask that you read through all of the roles and become familiar with them as we may ask you to read another script. Memorization is not required, but is strongly encouraged.

If you would like to audition for a solo, please select a portion of a song from our musical to sing for us. CDs will be sent home with you tonight for practice. If you were not at rehearsal this week you can pick up a CD at the church during the week. Please make arrangements via email or by calling Benji at 229-3200.

We may also ask you a few questions during the audition. Some examples are “Do you have any acting experience?”, “Which role(s) most interest you”, “Why do you want to try out for this part?”. We also ask that parents wait in the hallway during the audition.

We will do our very best to place everyone in the role that we feel most fits the child’s personality and abilities, but we can’t always guarantee that everyone will get the part they try out for. Please be aware that you may be chosen for a part that you did not read for. Make us aware at your audition if there is a part that you would prefer not to receive.

As always, questions are welcome! You can contact us via email at ccmpraisecompany@gmail.com!

Sincerely,

Benji, Sarah, and Sherry

We are thrilled to have you in our choir this year! We have a lot of exciting things ahead!

Tonight is our “kick-off” and is a bit different than a normal choir rehearsal. We will be spending the first week getting to know each other, having a snack, and previewing our musical.

We will be rehearsing this fall for a Christmas musical entitled “Back to the Manger”. Auditions for solos and speaking parts will be held on Sunday, October 3 from 1:30 until 4:30. A sign-up sheet will be available next Sunday for anyone who is interested. Please note: anyone chosen for speaking parts will be required to attend additional rehearsals beginning at 4:00 on Sundays.

There will be a lot of information coming your way during the choir season. All updates, information, cancellations, etc. will be communicated through the blog or email.

For dates and times of rehearsals, performances, and auditions, please see the calendar at the bottom of this page. Everything should be there except our dress rehearsal which is scheduled for the evening of December 18. We will update the calendar as soon as an exact time is decided upon.
